Newport’s Film School

Teaching the skills of art and screen

Newport film students in 1966

The University of Wales’ Film School sets high standards. In 2010 it was invited by a unanimous vote to join CILECT, an international association for top media schools.

The city has a long artistic legacy.

In 1901 the Headmaster of Newport Art School reported that 3,000 local people were learning creative skills with improved facilities since his early days of “rendering First Aid in Art on Stow Hill.”

Classes were so popular the Newport library had special classrooms dedicated to local learning and creative ventures.
